How Popup Frequency Rules Work

Popup frequency rules control how often a popup can appear to the same visitor.

This feature is available in Sky Campaigns Pro.

What Popup Frequency Does

Frequency rules help you avoid showing the same popup too often.

You can use them to control whether a popup appears every time, once per session, a limited number of times, or stops appearing after the visitor subscribes.

Requirements

Popup frequency controls are available only when:

  • The free Campaign Builder / Sky Campaigns plugin is active.
  • Sky Campaigns Pro is installed and active.
  • Your Pro license is active and valid.

If Pro is not active or licensed, frequency controls remain locked.

Frequency Options

Sky Campaigns Pro includes these frequency options:

  • Every time a trigger fires.
  • Once per browser session.
  • Custom number of shows within a custom number of days.
  • Do not show after the visitor subscribes.

Every Time a Trigger Fires

This option allows the popup to appear whenever the trigger condition is met.

Use this when you do not need to limit how often the popup appears.

Once Per Browser Session

This option shows the popup only once during the visitor’s browser session.

Use this when you want to avoid showing the same popup repeatedly while the visitor browses your site.

Custom Frequency

Custom frequency lets you limit popup displays within a selected time period.

For example:

  • Days: 7
  • Shows: 2

This allows the popup to show up to 2 times within 7 days.

Use custom frequency when you want to show a campaign more than once, but not too often.

Do Not Show After Subscription

This option stops showing the popup after the visitor subscribes.

Use this when the campaign goal is to collect a subscription and you do not want subscribed visitors to keep seeing the same popup.

If the Popup Does Not Appear

If your popup does not show, frequency rules may be blocking it.

Check the following:

  • The visitor may have already seen the popup during the current session.
  • The visitor may have reached the custom show limit.
  • The visitor may have already subscribed.
  • The campaign may also be limited by scheduling rules.
  • The campaign trigger may not have fired yet.

Important Note

Frequency rules work together with campaign status, display rules, triggers, and scheduling.

A popup will only appear when all required conditions are met.
