How Popup Triggers Work

How Popup Triggers Work

Popup triggers control when a campaign popup appears to visitors.

Campaign Builder / Sky Campaigns includes basic popup triggers in the free plugin. Sky Campaigns Pro adds advanced trigger options.

Where to Find Popup Triggers

To choose a popup trigger:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Go to Campaigns > Campaigns.
  3. Create a new campaign or edit an existing campaign.
  4. Find the trigger settings in the campaign editor.
  5. Choose the trigger you want to use.
  6. Configure the trigger options.
  7. Save the campaign.

Free Popup Triggers

The free plugin includes these popup triggers:

  • Time Delay.
  • Scroll Depth.
  • Exit Intent.
  • Immediate.

Time Delay Trigger

The Time Delay trigger shows the popup after a selected number of seconds.

For example, if you enter 5, the popup appears 5 seconds after the page loads.

Use this trigger when you want visitors to spend a short amount of time on the page before seeing the popup.

Scroll Depth Trigger

The Scroll Depth trigger shows the popup after the visitor scrolls to a selected percentage of the page.

For example, if you enter 50, the popup appears when the visitor reaches 50 percent scroll depth.

Use this trigger when you want to show the popup after the visitor has started reading the page.

Exit Intent Trigger

The Exit Intent trigger shows the popup when the visitor appears to be leaving the page.

Use this trigger for last-minute offers, newsletter signups, or reminders before the visitor exits.

Immediate Trigger

The Immediate trigger shows the popup as soon as the page loads.

Use this trigger when the message is important and should appear right away.

Pro Popup Triggers

Sky Campaigns Pro adds advanced popup triggers, including:

  • Click Selector.
  • Hover Selector.
  • User Inactivity.
  • Page Views.
  • Referrer Contains.
  • Returning Visitor.

Pro triggers are only available when Sky Campaigns Pro is installed, active, and connected with a valid license key.

Click Selector Trigger

The Click Selector trigger shows the popup when a visitor clicks a matching CSS selector.

Example selector:

.skyca-pro-trigger

You can add this class to a button or link on your site. When the visitor clicks it, the popup appears.

Hover Selector Trigger

The Hover Selector trigger shows the popup when a visitor hovers over or focuses on a matching CSS selector.

Example selector:

.skyca-pro-hover-trigger

Use this when you want the popup to appear after a visitor interacts with a specific button, link, or page element.

User Inactivity Trigger

The User Inactivity trigger shows the popup after the visitor has been inactive for the selected number of seconds.

Use this trigger when you want to re-engage visitors who have stopped interacting with the page.

Page Views Trigger

The Page Views trigger shows the popup after the visitor has viewed a selected number of pages.

Use this trigger for returning or engaged visitors who have browsed multiple pages.

Referrer Contains Trigger

The Referrer Contains trigger shows the popup when the visitor’s referrer contains selected text.

Example:

google.com

Use this trigger when you want to show a campaign to visitors coming from a specific traffic source.

Returning Visitor Trigger

The Returning Visitor trigger shows the popup to visitors who have returned after a previous visit.

Use this trigger when you want to target people who have already visited your site before.
