Customizing Form Settings and Submission Behavior

After adding the fields and setting up the layout, the next step is to configure the form itself.

Skyflow Forms allows you to control both the form’s content and what happens after someone submits it. This includes introductory text, footer notes, submission behavior, thank-you messages, redirects, and background styling.

These settings help turn a basic form into a more complete and polished experience.

Step 1: Open Input Customization

To edit form-level settings, open the Input Customization tab.

This section contains broader options related to the form as a whole.

If you click a field on the canvas, the panel may switch automatically so you can edit that field. For form-wide settings, make sure you are editing the overall form customization area.

Step 2: Add a Form Description

The Form Description field allows you to add text above the form.

This text helps users understand what the form is for and what they should do before submitting it.

Good uses for a form description

  • Introduce the purpose of the form
  • Explain what kind of request users should submit
  • Tell visitors what happens after submission
  • Encourage complete and accurate information

Step 3: Set the Footer Note

The Footer Note appears below the form and is useful for adding a final line of reassurance or information.

This can include:

  • Privacy reassurance
  • A support note
  • Response expectations
  • A small legal or informational message

A footer note is simple, but it adds trust and polish to the form.

Step 4: Choose the Post-Submit Action

The Post-Submit Action setting defines what happens after a successful form submission.

Available options include:

  • Show thank you message
  • Show thank you message, then redirect
  • Redirect immediately

Each option supports a different kind of user journey.

Step 5: Use a Thank-You Message

If you choose a submission option that includes a thank-you message, you can customize the message shown after submission.

This gives users instant confirmation that the form has been submitted.

Example

“Thank you for your submission. We’ll get back to you soon.”

A confirmation message reduces uncertainty and tells the visitor the action was successful.

Simple Tip: Keep thank-you messages short, clear, and reassuring.

Step 6: Use Redirects When Needed

Some forms work better when users are taken to another page after submission.

For example, you may want to send users to:

  • A thank-you page
  • A booking page
  • A download page
  • A confirmation page
  • A custom landing page

Skyflow Forms supports:

  • Show thank you message, then redirect
  • Redirect immediately

Step 7: Choose a Background Style

Skyflow Forms also allows you to control the form background.

The available options include:

  • Preset style
  • Solid color
  • Background image

This lets you match the form more closely with your site design or campaign layout.

Step 8: Use Preset Background Styles

If you select Preset style, you can choose from ready-made preset options such as:

  • Transparent
  • Light Box
  • Dark Box

These presets are useful when you want a clean design quickly without manually adjusting each visual setting.

Transparent

Best when you want the form to blend naturally into the page.

Light Box

Best for a clean, soft, readable look.

Dark Box

Best when you want stronger contrast or when placing the form in a darker section of the website.

Tip: Choose the preset based on readability first, not only appearance.

Step 9: Use a Solid Color or Background Image

Solid Color

A solid background is a simple and effective option when you want a clean branded appearance.

This works well for business websites, contact pages, and service forms.

Background Image

A background image can create a stronger visual presentation and may work well for landing pages, campaigns, and promotional sections.

However, it should be used carefully so the fields and text remain easy to read.

Best Practice: If you use a background image, keep the form area clean and make sure the text still stands out clearly.

Step 10: Preview the Form

Before saving, click Preview.

This helps you review:

  • Field placement
  • Label clarity
  • Container structure
  • Overall spacing
  • Form description and footer note
  • Background style
  • User flow after submission

Previewing helps catch layout or clarity issues before the form goes live.

Step 11: Save the Form

Once you are satisfied with the layout and settings, click Save Form.

This stores your changes and keeps the form ready for use.

Tip: Save regularly while working, especially when making several structural or design changes.

Best Practice

Always review the full form from the visitor’s perspective before finalizing it. A form may be technically correct, but small changes in wording, spacing, or field order can make it much easier to complete.
